Dr. Norma Doft’s: “Parenting Skills” Program

Parenting Skills

A Special Challenge:

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD or ADD) and related conditions can change even the most lovable child into an impossible one: frustrated, impulsive, over-reactive and oppositional, with low frustration tolerance and poor self-esteem.

Life with these children can be an endless series of painful scenes: tantrums, power struggles, abuse of siblings and parents, and serious issues around school and homework to name just a few.

As the parent, guardian, or caregiver of such a child, you may feel isolated, helpless, guilty and angry. You may already have tried several different therapists and approaches, but with little success.

WE CAN HELP!

We are New York’s longest running and ever-evolving ADD/ADHD parenting skills program.

Our Unique Response:

Our six-week Parenting Skills program is specifically designed to provide practical tools for dealing with the behavior and emotional reactions of these children.

Not just a lecture series, this program offers a personalized, small-group workshop setting where parents and caregivers can learn effective management tools in a positive, supportive, yet challenging atmosphere. These techniques help reduce tension and conflict, while also teaching children to self-regulate their own behavior.

Dr. Doft’s unique, results-focused approach makes use of the latest findings in the behavioral sciences, neurobiology and other disciplines. This gives you a powerfully effective way to stay in charge, while helping your children learn to be more in control of themselves.

Who Should Attend?

Parents and caregivers of children aged 3 to 11 with:

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Oppositional-Defiant Disorder
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Difficult temperament and other disorders characterized by self-regulatory difficulties.

Note: This program is currently offered in person Tuesday evenings, from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm, in Manhattan, New York City. Depending upon interest, virtual classes may be offered.
